# SWOT and market position review

## Purpose

Separate internal strengths and weaknesses from external opportunities and threats, compare the company’s position with named alternatives, and produce strategic implications grounded in dated evidence.

## Scope

Use revenue or usage trends, customer feedback, win-loss records, product capabilities, delivery metrics, competitor comparisons, market notes, segment definitions, and strategic objectives. Classify evidence by internal/external and positive/negative.

**Excluded:** unsupported market forecasts, external research when web search is disabled, final strategy approval, and commitments to actions or targets.

## Data basis

- Company performance, product, customer, delivery, and win-loss tables.
- Competitor or alternative comparison, market notes, dated customer evidence, and segment definitions.
- Strategic objectives, positioning statement, prior SWOT, and scoring rubric.

## Result

A SWOT evidence sheet and position memo with cited observations, confidence, strategic implications, priorities, assumptions, and unresolved evidence.

## Quality criteria

- Each quadrant item cites a dated source and states whether it is internal or external.
- Facts, interpretations, and recommendations are visibly separate.
- Position comparisons use the same segment, period, and dimensions.
- Priority scores reproduce the supplied rubric and do not turn unknowns into negatives.

## Instructions

Use the stated review period and segment. Treat internal capability and performance evidence as strengths or weaknesses; treat customer, competitor, and market evidence as opportunities or threats only when the source supports that external classification. Keep stale evidence labelled. If web search is enabled, record URL and publication date; otherwise use only the supplied corpus.

Avoid counting the same metric in multiple quadrants unless the evidence supports distinct implications. A competitor claim without a comparable period remains a limitation. Recommendations should describe a direction to evaluate, not an approved initiative.

## Adapt before use

- Map performance, product, customer, competitor, segment, and market fields.
- Add positioning statement, strategic objectives, review period, and scoring rubric.
- Define evidence freshness, confidence levels, and rules for prioritizing implications.
