Annual strategic planning pack

Purpose

Convert the prior-year review and proposed operating inputs into one annual strategy pack: a small set of measurable objectives, initiatives, investment choices, risks, and quarterly checkpoints.

Scope

Use the prior-year plan, actual revenue and margin table, customer and market notes, capacity plan, initiative register, and leadership priorities. Cover goals, baseline performance, strategic bets, dependencies, resources, and measures.

Excluded: approving the plan, changing budgets or roadmaps, promising results, or researching markets not represented in the supplied corpus.

Data basis

  • Prior-year strategy and quarterly business reviews.
  • Revenue, gross margin, retention, pipeline, headcount, and cash tables with period and segment columns.
  • Initiative register with owner, cost, status, milestone, dependency, and expected outcome.
  • Approved leadership priorities and planning assumptions.

Result

A strategy document with baseline, three-to-seven proposed priorities, initiative portfolio, quarterly scorecard, risks, decisions needed, and an evidence sheet linking each number and recommendation to its source.

Quality criteria

  • Each goal has a baseline, target, period, owner, and source citation.
  • Portfolio totals reconcile to the supplied budget and capacity figures.
  • Initiatives without a quantified outcome are marked as proposals, not benefits.
  • Conflicting targets retain both values and identify the document and date.
  • Every initiative is included or excluded with a stated reason.

Instructions

Prefer approved leadership priorities over inferred themes. Calculate growth, margin, retention, and capacity changes from the stated periods; never use a missing value as zero. Rank initiatives only with the supplied scoring model, otherwise show an unranked decision list. Keep facts, assumptions, and choices in separate fields. Use quarterly milestones and name the dependency that could move each milestone. Cite every baseline and recommendation to a document section, table, or row.

Adapt before use

  • Add the approved strategy, budget, capacity plan, and initiative scoring rubric to the scope.
  • Map revenue, margin, retention, headcount, and initiative fields to the company tables.
  • Set the planning year, target currency, materiality threshold, and priority count.
