Executive briefing document set

Purpose

Builds a coordinated executive briefing from operating metrics, issue papers, decisions, and supporting exhibits. It reconciles numbers across the cover brief, agenda, appendix, and speaker notes and exposes unresolved claims before leadership review.

Scope

Cover one leadership briefing cycle: cover page, agenda, executive narrative, speaker notes, decision pages, and numbered exhibits. Excluded: changing a reported metric, adding an unsupported recommendation, or treating a briefing draft as an approved decision.

Data basis

  • Approved briefing template and audience brief with page, word, and exhibit limits.
  • KPI tables, issue papers, decision records, and risk or cash updates used in the briefing.
  • Prior briefing for change tracking and source documents for every claim.

Result

Cover brief, agenda, talking points, and cited appendix. Executive briefing evidence {date}

Quality criteria

  • Every headline number has one claim ID, one cutoff date, one unit, and one source reference.
  • Cover, notes, and exhibits use identical values or state the rounding difference.
  • Each decision request states context, requested decision, consequence of delay, and cited evidence.
  • Page or word limits are checked and overflow is moved to the appendix.
  • Unresolved claims are labelled in the briefing rather than omitted.

Instructions

Every executive claim must fit the cover brief, agenda, talking points, and exhibit numbering without changing the underlying metric.

Adapt before use

Keep one claim ID across the cover brief, agenda, speaker notes, and appendix. Reconcile rounded headline figures to the underlying table and identify any exhibit that uses a different cutoff date.

  • Add the company policy, rubric, control matrix, or approved format named in the Data basis.
  • Map source column names, identifiers, status values, and date or currency conventions.
  • Define the process threshold, escalation vocabulary, responsible review role, and retention rule.
