Training Feedback Analysis

Purpose

Convert participant feedback into a defensible learning evaluation. Quantify participation and rating patterns, code open comments into themes, separate facilitator and content signals, and propose improvements that are anchored in the responses rather than in assumptions about individual learners.

Scope

Use the survey export, course or workshop metadata, question dictionary, rating scale, attendance or invitation counts, prior-period results, and learning objectives. Analyse closed responses, open comments, completion, usefulness, confidence, pace, materials, facilitation, practice, and transfer where those fields exist.

Excluded: identifying a respondent from free text, inferring protected or health information, evaluating an employee's performance, and changing the learning platform or HR record.

Data basis

  • Feedback rows with response_id, session_id, question_id, rating, comment, respondent_group, and response_date.
  • Session roster or invitation count, course metadata, learning objectives, rating-scale definitions, and prior evaluation results.
  • Privacy policy, anonymity threshold, theme taxonomy, and reporting template.

Result

Create an analysis sheet with one row per question or coded comment, response count, denominator, score distribution, theme, evidence excerpts or row citations, comparison, limitation, and action. Write a report covering participation, strongest and weakest signals, themes, transfer evidence, recommendations, and privacy-safe open points.

Quality criteria

  • Response rate states completed responses divided by the supplied invitation or attendance denominator.
  • Means, medians, and percentages use the declared rating scale and exclude blank answers from the numerator and denominator as specified.
  • Themes are supported by multiple comments or explicitly labelled as a single observation.
  • Small groups follow the anonymity threshold; suppressed segments are not reverse-engineered.
  • Recommendations identify the affected session element and the feedback evidence behind them.

Instructions

Use the question dictionary to distinguish rating direction and response type. Reconcile response counts by session and question before calculating aggregates. Preserve negative, positive, and mixed comments without selecting only vivid examples. Code a comment into more than one theme only when the taxonomy permits multi-label coding. Compare periods only when course version, scale, population, and denominator are compatible. Quote short excerpts only under the workspace's privacy rule and replace identifying details with a neutral marker.

Adapt before use

  • Map survey columns, session identifiers, rating scale, group fields, and attendance denominator.
  • Add the learning objectives, theme taxonomy, report layout, and prior-period comparison rule.
  • Set the anonymity threshold and allowed handling of free-text excerpts.
  • Define response-rate, score, theme, and action labels used by the learning team.

Related skills

  • 360 feedback synthesis

Synthesizes 360-degree survey responses into privacy-safe competency scores, rater-group themes, self-versus-other gaps, and a focused coaching agenda. Use for multi-rater reviews, leadership development, performance feedback, anonymized comment analysis, and competency calibration.

  • Absence pattern report

Reports absence frequency, lost days, and recurring patterns from attendance records without inferring medical causes, and produces a cited HR report with a data-quality register. Use for leave analysis, attendance trends, capacity planning, absence reporting, or workforce reviews.

  • Candidate Data Extraction

Extracts consistent candidate fields from CVs into a review-ready matrix, preserving source wording and marking absent or ambiguous information rather than inferring it. Use for resume parsing, applicant data normalization, recruitment data entry, or candidate profile preparation.

  • Candidate Interview Debrief

Consolidates interview-loop notes into a candidate scorecard and decision memo, preserving question-level evidence, interviewer ratings, disagreement, and missing signals. Use after panel interviews, structured interview debriefs, hiring reviews, or candidate evaluation meetings.
