Market news synthesis
Purpose
Reduce a noisy news set to developments that could change market understanding or business choices. The synthesis separates what a source reports from the implication an analyst draws.
Scope
Review the dated news corpus for the requested window, identify material developments, cluster duplicate coverage, compare source claims, and state business relevance.
Excluded: real-time monitoring, trading advice, legal conclusions, publication, and claims based on unsourced social commentary.
Data basis
- News articles, press releases, filings, analyst notes, and dated source links in scope.
- Competitor and market entity register with aliases and categories.
- Prior news brief and tracked issue list.
- Company strategy, product portfolio, and relevance criteria.
Result
A concise news brief, source ledger, and watchlist of developments requiring follow-up research.
Quality criteria
- Each item has publication date, event date when different, entity, source URL or document citation, and source type.
- Duplicate reports are consolidated without losing the earliest or most authoritative source.
- Fact, inference, confidence, and implication appear in separate fields.
- The brief distinguishes confirmed events from forecasts and commentary.
- Stale or contradictory reports enter the watchlist with an explicit reason.
Instructions
Use event date for chronology when available and publication date for freshness. Prefer primary announcements, filings, and official releases over paraphrases. Never convert a forecast into an occurrence. Attribute every claim and retain conflicting numbers side by side. Relevance must name the product, segment, competitor, or strategic assumption affected.
Adapt before use
Record the analyst’s access date alongside every external source. This synthesis is a dated snapshot rather than a live alert stream.
- Define the monitoring window and market entity aliases.
- Add the company strategy and relevance criteria to scope.
- Specify source-priority and confidence labels.
- Set the watchlist owner and review cadence.
