Competitor pricing and packaging monitor

Purpose

Maintain a dated comparison of competitor plans and convert observed price or packaging changes into evidence-backed implications for the company’s offer.

Scope

Compare named competitors’ plan names, billing interval, list price, currency, seat or usage unit, included limits, overage rates, add-ons, trial terms, enterprise wording, discount language, and change date.

Excluded: purchasing plans, contacting competitors, estimating undisclosed negotiated prices, and recommending a price without a company decision rule.

Data basis

  • Competitor price pages, plan PDFs, product sheets, dated screenshots, and supplied sales notes.
  • Prior monitoring snapshots with competitor, plan, price, unit, currency, and observed_at columns.
  • Company price list, package definitions, win-loss notes, and approved positioning guidance.

Result

A current pricing matrix, change log, and short implications brief. Each observed value retains its source URL or document page and observation date.

Quality criteria

  • Prices are compared only after billing period, currency, unit, and tax treatment are identified.
  • A missing public price is recorded as “not disclosed”, never as zero.
  • Every change row cites both the prior and current observation.
  • Feature inclusion is distinguished from marketing language and unknown access.
  • Recommendations state the company rule or evidence behind them.

Instructions

Keep one row per competitor-plan-unit combination. Convert annual prices to monthly equivalents only with the stated formula and retain the advertised price. Do not treat a changed page without a date as proof of a change; mark it as current observation only. Separate public list price, sales-note quote, and inference. Rank implications by the supplied competitive threshold; otherwise report price deltas without a rank.

Adapt before use

  • Add the company price list, package dictionary, and prior snapshot to the scope.
  • Map competitor plan, unit, feature, currency, and observation-date columns.
  • Set comparison currencies, rounding rules, material price-change threshold, and monitored competitors.

Verwandte Skills

  • Brand voice consistency check

Checks supplied marketing copy against a brand guide, terminology list, prohibited-language rules, and approved claims, then produces cited findings and corrected versions. Use for brand voice review, tone checks, copy QA, terminology audits, pre-publication review, or messaging consistency control.

  • Campaign messaging house

Builds a campaign messaging house and execution plan from a goal, audience, offer, channels, and constraints, linking every message to proof and a measurable action. Use for campaign planning, integrated marketing briefs, messaging architecture, launch campaigns, or demand-generation planning.

  • Campaign performance review

Evaluates a completed marketing campaign against its plan, spend, audience, channel, asset, and outcome data, then produces findings and reusable next-time decisions. Use for campaign retrospectives, marketing performance reviews, channel analysis, post-campaign reporting, or budget learning.

  • Competitor content gap analysis

Compares a company’s content inventory with competitor pages and a defined search or buyer-topic set, then ranks missing, weak, outdated, and differentiating content opportunities with evidence. Use for SEO gap reviews, editorial planning, competitive messaging analysis, topic research, and quarterly content roadmaps.
