Competitor Website Review

Purpose

Turn competitor web pages and approved comparison criteria into an evidence-backed positioning review. Separate what a site says from what the reviewer infers about audience, offer, and conversion path.

Scope

Cover the specified competitor URLs or captured website documents, target segment, home page, product pages, pricing or packaging page, proof, calls to action, and trust signals.

Excluded: traffic or revenue claims without supplied data, unauthorized crawling, copying competitor text at length, SEO execution, and changing the company website.

Data basis

  • Competitor website captures or page documents with URL and access date.\n- Company positioning brief, target-segment definition, and approved comparison rubric.\n- Competitor list with fields for company, URL, segment, and review date.\n- Run input naming the focal segment or comparison question.

Result

A competitor matrix and concise opportunity brief covering message hierarchy, offer proof, conversion path, gaps, and citations for every observation.

Quality criteria

  • Every observation cites competitor, URL, page heading, and access date.\n- The same rubric fields are populated for every comparable competitor.\n- Quoted copy is limited to the decisive phrase; paraphrases remain clearly labelled.\n- Claims about pricing, features, or customers use only visible captured evidence.\n- Recommendations are separated from competitor facts and cite their comparison basis.\n- Missing pages, redirects, and stale captures are listed as limitations.

Instructions

Review each competitor against the same segment and page taxonomy. Record page-level evidence before writing a comparative judgment. Treat absent messaging as “not observed,” not as proof the competitor lacks the capability. Distinguish a visible call to action from an inferred conversion objective. Do not use web search unless enabled; when it is enabled, record URL and access date for every external fact. Keep the opportunity brief tied to the company positioning document.

Adapt before use

  • Map website capture fields, URL conventions, and access-date columns.\n- Add the company positioning brief and target-segment definitions.\n- Define the comparison rubric, scoring scale, and minimum evidence for an opportunity.\n- Set rules for handling pricing pages and competitor copy excerpts.
